Metal Bending

Effect:
A spoon is bent and then straightened again.

Secret:

Take the spoon in your left fist. Position the bowl so it rests on the table. Move your right hand over the left and change the left grip to hold the spoon by third and little fingers. As you pretend to press the spoon against the table top. bring your hands up to a vertical position as if really bending the handle. Move the hands back and forth as if the metal is becoming really supple. Blow on the spoon and throw it on the table. The handle is straight.

Coin bite and restored coin

David Blaine performed this extremely effective trick where a coin was bitten and a piece removed. The coin was restored when the missing piece was seemingly spat out at it.This trick was used using a very cleverly engineered coin which is available from a lot of good magic suppliers and is switched for the spectators coin. You can do your own version of the trick by making your own trick coin by looking at the coin trick section of this site.

Palm The Wand

Effect:
To prove that you have magical powers, place the wand or pencil across the top of the palm of one hand, with the back of the hand towards the audience. Slowly open your fingers and the wand apparently sticks to the hand as if magnetised (see figure 1).

Secret:
Grip your wrist with your other hand (see figure 2). Unbeknown to your audience, your right index finger is holding the wand. Don't ever let the audience see the way you hold the wand.

The Removable Thumb

Effect:
You appear to remove your thumb!

Secret:
Practise this in front of a mirror. Hold out your left hand with the palm facing you. Bend your left thumb in half towards your body. Bend your right thumb in half and place it alongside the left (see figure 1). Place your right forefinger over the front of the two thumbs where they touch (see figure 2).Move your right hand to the right and it looks as if you have removed your thumb (see figure 3). This trick should be done only to people who are directly facing you.

Make A Bottle Stick To A Wall

WARNING THIS TRICK MIGHT WIN YOU SEVERAL BEERS!!!

This bar trick should be practiced, it is definitely not for amateurs!!It is always best to take care and have consideration for the establishment you are in.Remember if you are not at home, you are a guest. Bars owners can get upset because they are always fussy about scratching up their expensively decorated walls.Have enough courtesy and respect to at least put a rubbish bin underneath the bottle to try to catch it.( There's no guarantee the rubbish bin will catch it either) because it will not stick more than few seconds or minutes.

NOTE:
This trick should be done in an area where there is a soft floor covering.REMEMBER: This bar trick will not work on all wall surfaces. DRY-WALL is generally a good surface (but not always). This bar trick has been known to work on some other surfaces to.THE BOTTLE WILL ONLY STICK FOR A FEW SECONDS OR MINUTES!!If the bottle breaks or you scratch up expensive wall paneling, this trick it is also a great way to get thrown out of your favourite bar on your ass!!! Be careful!!!

GOAL:
To freak people out by sticking a bottle to a wall without glue or bubble gum.

MATERIALS:
One EMPTY beer bottle and a wall made of DRY-WALL ( No stupid!! Not a "dry

wall" but a wall "MADE of DRY-WALL")

HOW ITS DONE:
Walk over to a corner, place the empty beer bottle in the corner making sure that each wall is flush with the bottle.Gently rub the bottle in an up and down motion with VERY VERY short strokes. (The bottle should not move more than 3cm in either direction)Friction will cause the bottle to move in even shorter movements, when the bottle doesn't move in either direction, let go GENTLY.If you want to try some really clever stuff, there are lots of levitation secrets explained in the which explains how to levitate yourself and objects quickly and easily, leaving your audience completely surprised.

Coin Bite

Effect

The magician borrows a coin from the spectator and is seen to take a bite out of the coin.

Preparation

Take a quarter and file one side of it down so it looks like someone has bitten a chunk out of it.

Method

Approach a spectator and ask them to borrow a quarter. You have already the gimmicked quarter between your thumb and forefinger of your right hand.Take the quarter from the spectator and quietly move your finger and thumb and switch the coins.Their coin is now slid to the back of your finger.Pretend to be biting and tearing of a section of what is now your
gimmicked coin and eventually tug it free from your mouth to show the spectator who should look amazed.

How Does David Copperfield Fly ?

Everyone knows how this trick looks! David goes up in the air above the stage, soars above it, turns over, flies through the rings and in the closed glass box and in the end flows in the air with a girl in his hands. People have been trying to reveal this mystery for many years, there have been a lot of interesting suppositions and they keep coming; the most popular version is the hauberk made of magnets, which David wears under his sweater; and there is a special device under the stage with the help of which Copperfield leaves the floor and goes a couple of meters up.

Some even think, that David hypnotizes the whole audience during this trick and people simply don't notice, that his assistants almost carry him with their bare hands. Of course, all of these versions are false and even amusing. In this article we'll go through David's Flying from the show, called "Flying: live the dream." If you have the video of this trick, please, prepare it for viewing; if not, you can find some fragments of it in this article.

Technology of Flying.
David flies with the help of special ropes; only few factories in the world are producing these ropes. They are cosmic factories in general but also one factory in Las Vegas produces such ropes, the thickness of one of which is a bit less than a millimeter and it holds more than 100 kg. In Moscow, at the Mitishinski aerospace factory, they showed us how they look and what they are used for. They are ideal for transportation and for use in space, because the ropes are very strong, though they are very thin and light. Their total thickness is about 2 cm (thin threads are tied together, making a rope) and they are able to bare a colossal load. But the thickness of each thread itself is almost unnoticeable from a slight distance. With the help of these very ropes David Copperfield flies.

David always flies against a background of the flapping light-blue cloth with silver vertical fragments. This background makes the ropes totally invisible for the audience, the same as a black background. David uses only two ropes, which are attached to an acrobatic belt, fixed on his body and hidden under the black sweater.

There is a winch above the stage (the most expensive part of the trick). It's able to lift David with various speed and acceleration, i.e. smooth and unnoticeable. It's attached to special rails and it can move according to their flexes, turns and direction. Such devices are used in circus or in movies ("The sneaking tiger, the hiding dragon", "The Matrix").

Two or three men operate the winch. One is responsible for the vertical lift-up, the other - for moving of the winch on the rails and the third one is just standing by. But David turns over himself, as far as the ropes are attached to the belt and David can easily correct his position in the air by bending forward or back.

Indian Burn

The Magician holds his arms out in a “follow me” motion. One wrist is placed over the other with thumbs pointing to the floor. The fingers interlace and on the count of three, the magician twists his wrists to be pointing straight up.

METHOD:
Here’s the arm twisty thing David Copperfeild opened with. It
really is a cool trick. You have to perform it right though. The fact that he did it in front of an entire audience is risky as hell. When he said, “ok, thumbs down,” he stopped and said, “sir, I said thumbs down,” in which almost the whole audience got momentarily distracted, which is all you need. It’s really simple.Just do as he did first. Ok, hold out your arms, put your thumbs facing down, cross your arms right over left, now line up your thumbs real good (*this is where the special move happens*) now clasp your fingers to together, and rotate your arms (which they cant do)

* SPECIAL MOVE: The spectator will momentarily look at their thumbs to line them up. While then do that, you take your left hand (the one underneath) and spin it 360 degrees counterclockwise. It helps if you open your hand and close it real quick again because it’s less likely to get noticed when you’re doing the move. It’s kind of a stretch though. Make sure you have your thumbs aligned and pointing down when you finish the move. Now just clasp the fingers and do the impossible. This is almost full proof; If you do it to one person and have them stand facing the same way as you, and to your left. Kind of like the old 360 arm-twist trick.

Coin Trick

The Balducci Levitation

The Balducci Levitation is an illusion that can be performed anywhere, anytime. The illustration to the left show you the audience point-of-view.Stand about 8 to 10 feet away from the audience at a 45° 'backward' angle. This is an angle sensitive trick. You have to practice your angles over and over to get used to them. One bad angle or position and the illusion is blown!

The Secret

All there is to do is pretend to "float off of the ground
while you
tippee-toe on just one foot (the foot furthest from their view) as shown to the right and below. The audience can not see your supporting foot because it is hidden by three things: your pants, the angle of the trick and your closest shoe (which hides their view of the foot being used to "levitate" you.) You might only rise 3 or 5 inches off of the ground, but it's all in the presentation! You will want to slowly rise off of the ground . . . wait a few seconds and then drop fast. Stay up too long and they will probably figure it out.

Different Views

Showing an exposed view and two audience views before and during the levitation.

Performance Animation
This is what it should look like if done right.
Good luck and enjoy the illusion!
